The Clinic by Will Brumley at Primary Stages: ESPA

This coming Sunday, September 22nd, I’m in a reading of the play, THE CLINIC by Will Brumley. Details below!

Detention #48: Our Bodies, Our Choice & THE CLINIC

Primary Stages ESPA Playwright Will Brumley has been generously providing his play, THE CLINIC, to theaters and individuals across the country for readings to raise awareness and funds for reproductive rights. Inspired by Will's use of art as activism, we are joining this fundraising movement for our next Detention.

ESPA artists have come together to create work in response to what is currently happening in our country surrounding reproductive rights and body autonomy, which will be followed by a presentation of THE CLINIC. Written by WIll Brumley and directed by Mêlisa Annis, this play is about a group of abortion providers in Kansas – the daily obstacles they face, their perseverance, and the future of abortion care. All proceeds will go to Planned Parenthood to help combat the Title X gag rule that will prevent access to reproductive health care across the country. THE CLINIC has had 10 readings throughout the US since the possible abortion bans were announced 15 weeks ago, with 5 additional readings upcoming this Fall. So far, this movement has raised $9,506 in support of independent clinics and abortion funds.

Learn more abut this movement here: https://www.willbrumley.com/theclinicreadingseries). Our goal is to break the $10,000 mark!

Planned Parenthood is an organization that is close to my heart. The work that they do helps so many women all over the country. I’m thrilled to be a small part of something that can benefit the good work Planned Parenthood does. Hope to see you there!
